The Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka organized the “3rd Mian Sultan Khan Chess Tournament” on Thursday (18 June 2026). The tournament, organized in collaboration with the Bangladesh Chess Federation, was held in honor of Pakistan’s legendary chess player and three-time British champion Mian Sultan Khan.






Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Mahdi Amin was present as the chief guest at the event. He said that sports like cricket and chess bind the people of the two countries together and play a helpful role in strengthening Bangladesh-Pakistan relations. He expressed hope that such joint initiatives will continue in the future.
High Commissioner Imran Haider was present on behalf of the Pakistan High Commission, Dhaka among the organizers. He thanked the Bangladesh government and the Bangladesh Chess Federation for their cooperation.
The High Commissioner said that such a competitive and friendly event plays an important role in further strengthening people-to-people relations, friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.
More than 200 participants took part in this year’s tournament, including diplomats, professionals, national chess players, students and chess enthusiasts of various levels. At the end of the competition, certificates, medals, prize money and trophies were distributed among the winners and best players.
