Spanish Ambassador to Dhaka Gabriel Maria Cistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir. The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Tejgaon Office on Thursday (June 18, 2026).
During the meeting, both sides discussed various issues to further strengthen and multi-dimensionally strengthen the friendly bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Spain. Special emphasis was placed on expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, renewable energy, infrastructure development, tourism, agriculture, education, technology and skilled human resource development.
The Spanish Ambassador praised Bangladesh’s ongoing economic progress, investment-friendly environment and strategic location. He expressed interest in increasing Spanish investment and trade engagement in manufacturing, renewable energy, infrastructure, technology and other promising sectors. The possibility of strengthening cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries was also discussed.
Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir, citing the growing trend of economic and development cooperation between Bangladesh and Spain, welcomed Spanish investors to invest in Bangladesh. He said that Bangladesh has emerged as a stable and promising destination in attracting foreign investment and the government is committed to ensuring a conducive environment for investors.
In the meeting held in a cordial atmosphere, both sides expressed their determination to further strengthen cooperation in matters of mutual interest and expressed hope of elevating Bangladesh-Spain relations to new heights.
