On the occasion of Armed Forces Day-2024 celebrations, a felicitation ceremony was organized on Sunday (01 December 2024) at ‘Army Multipurpose Complex’ in Dhaka Cantonment for the awardees of the Great War of Independence and other brave freedom fighters and their close relatives. Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, PSC exchanged greetings with the decorated and brave freedom fighters and their relatives. Also, on the said occasion, the Army Chief presented medals to a total of 28 Army personnel who received 05 Army Medals (SBP), 05 Outstanding Service Medals (OSP) and 18 Distinguished Service Medals (BSP) in recognition of their various acts of valor during peacetime during the financial year 2023-2024. .
At the beginning of the program, a summary of the commendable activities of the soldiers who received titles and brave freedom fighters during the great liberation war and the commendable activities of the soldiers who received medals during the peace time was highlighted. It is to be noted that every year the military headquarters organizes this reception to commemorate the contribution of the brave freedom fighters in the freedom struggle of the country.
Honored and heroic freedom fighters, their next of kin, senior military officers and army personnel, invited guests and media persons were present on the occasion.
