Masud Khan appointed as new chairman of BSEC

Desk Report:

Masud Khan has been appointed as the new chairman of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). At the same time, three new commissioners of the commission have also been appointed.

The newly appointed commissioners are Nafiz Al Tariq, Nahid Mahtab and Tanvir Habib Rahman.

The appointment of the new chairman and commissioners was confirmed through a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday (June 4, 2026) afternoon.

Earlier on the same day, BSEC Chairman Khandaker Rashed Maqsood submitted his resignation letter. Along with this, Commissioners Md. Mohsin Chowdhury, Md. Ali Akbar, Farzana Lalarukh and Md. Saifuddin resigned.

With this change in the top level of capital market regulator BSEC, the new leadership of the commission is going to take charge. Those concerned believe that under the leadership of the new chairman and commissioners, new initiatives will be taken to develop the country’s capital market, improve governance, and increase investor confidence.

According to a notification from the Ministry of Finance, the newly appointed chairman and commissioners will assume their duties soon.
