The government has made all kinds of preparations to combat dengue, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain.
He said this at a meeting held at the ministry’s meeting room at the Secretariat on Monday (June 1, 2026) on what to do to combat dengue.
The Health Minister said that one or two dengue patients are still being identified every day. Since dengue occurs during this time, we are making all-out preparations to combat it without delay.
He said that dengue corners are being set up in upazila health centers. A field hospital is ready on the Dhaka Medical College Hospital campus to treat the infected. More field hospitals will be set up in different parts of the country if necessary.
The meeting was presided over by Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain. At that time, State Minister for Health Dr. MA Muhith, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr. Prabhat Chandra Biswas, Additional Director General Professor Dr. Zahid Raihan, Director (Hospital) Dr. AHM Mainul Ahsan and others were present.
Sakhawat Hossain said, the Society of Medicine will provide detailed training including treatment plans. Various organizations including UNICEF are also assisting. The work is starting from tomorrow. Doctors and nurses will be trained in 7 divisions and districts outside Dhaka across the country. Various necessary materials including reagents, testing kits and fluid saline are in stock. We have decided to procure sufficient quantities as per the demand.
When asked about the steps taken regarding the origin of dengue, he said, we have started working with the City Corporation on this two months ago.
The meeting discussed launching an app on dengue and emphasis was placed on increasing research on dengue.
