Desk Report:
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has said that no negligence or irregularities will be tolerated in the quality and supply of nutritious food for children in the school feeding program.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at a directive exchange meeting organized with the school feeding program’s supplier organizations, project-related officials and field-level officials in the capital on Sunday (May 24, 2026).
The State Minister said that this is a very important program related to the nutrition, health and future security of children. Everyone, be it government officials or supplier organizations, must work with the utmost responsibility.
Addressing the supplier organizations, the State Minister said that the current government is business-friendly. But there is no room for compromising on the quality of food for children in the name of business. Those who cannot fulfill their responsibilities properly will not be able to remain in this program in the future.
He said that currently, the school feeding program is being implemented in 151 upazilas and a project worth about 5,500 crore taka is being implemented in it. If the expectations of the people are not met in such a big program, it will be embarrassing for the government and all concerned.
He directed the meeting to strictly follow the new instructions. These include complete supply chain mapping, appointment of food technicians, ensuring local food procurement and supply, delivering food to schools at the scheduled time every day, and strengthening quality control. He said that the government should have complete information about where the food comes from in the school feeding program, how it is processed, and through whom it is reaching the schools.
The State Minister further said that the main goal of the government is that children should get proper nutritious food. For this, the government will provide all kinds of practical cooperation. However, those in charge must also fulfill their responsibilities properly.
Representatives of the supplier organizations present in the meeting highlighted various challenges and practical experiences at the field level. At this time, the State Minister assured to further strengthen the cooperation between teachers, head teachers and local administration. Bobby Hajjaj said that this is a pilot program. The problems that are being identified now will be resolved so that this program can be implemented more effectively across the country in the future.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Director General of the Department of Primary Education, Project Director, Deputy Director, all concerned contractors, District Primary Education Officers and Upazila Primary Education Officers were present in the meeting.
