Pakistan interested in exporting agricultural machinery to Bangladesh

On Monday (April 27, 2026), Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider met with Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Amin Ur Rashid at the office of the Ministry of Agriculture in the Secretariat.

During the meeting, Amin Ur Rashid said that there are many similarities in the agricultural sectors of Bangladesh and Pakistan. Plans are being made to reorganize agriculture to make Bangladesh’s agricultural sector export-oriented. The minister said that the government is working by prioritizing high-yielding crops and modern farming systems. During the meeting, various issues of mutual cooperation including import and export of agricultural products, education and research, agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors of the two countries were discussed.

Highlighting the future prospects of the country with the blue economy, the minister said, “We are working on our deep sea resources, especially sustainable technology for fishing. A fishery resource survey has already been completed with the cooperation of experienced countries in this regard.” The Minister called on the High Commissioner for any kind of cooperation and exchange of experience in this regard and he also called on Pakistan to import pineapples from Bangladesh.

High Commissioner Imran Haider said that Pakistan is interested in working together in the agriculture and livestock sector of Bangladesh. Full scholarships are being given to Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education in agriculture and veterinary subjects in various educational institutions in Pakistan. He also spoke about the possibility of research in various subjects through the exchange program of agriculture and livestock institutes of the two countries.

He said that it is possible to increase the milk and meat production of local cows by crossbreeding with improved breeds of cows and expressed his country’s interest in working on this issue. The High Commissioner said that rice, corn, cotton and various types of fruits produced in his country are being exported to Bangladesh and expressed his interest in providing technical assistance to his country Bangladesh in the production of sugar including high-yielding sugarcane in Pakistan.

Stating that Pakistan is supplying agricultural machinery to various countries of the world, the High Commissioner said that if Bangladesh is interested, it is possible to export modern agricultural machinery from his country. The Agriculture Minister welcomed the interest of the Pakistan High Commissioner.
