Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan was called on by Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen at his office in the ministry in Dhaka on Sunday (April 26, 2026). The meeting discussed strengthening mutual relations between the two countries and increasing media, cultural and knowledge-based cooperation.
The Information Minister recalled his participation in the Strategic Communication Summit last March and said that organizing the Strategic Communication Summit was a very timely initiative. He thanked the Turkish government for this excellent organization.
The Information Minister said that in the current world, it is important to bring digital platforms under a set of rules and regulations. This is not possible for any single country; all countries have to come forward collectively in this regard.
The Ambassador handed over a copy of the proposal to increase cooperation between the Turkish state television and radio and Bangladesh Television and Betar to the Minister. At the same time, the Information Minister also emphasized the need to increase communication between the media outlets of the two countries at the government level.
It is worth noting that during the visit to Turkey, a bilateral meeting between the Minister and Professor Burhanuddin Duran, Director of the Presidential Communication Directorate of Turkey, resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on knowledge exchange and information exchange related to modern information management between Bangladesh and Turkey.
