Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman has said that reviving SAARC is one of the main goals of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s foreign policy.

He said this at a ministerial-level panel discussion at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey on Saturday (April 18, 2026).

The historic contribution of martyred President Ziaur Rahman in the formation of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was remembered with deep respect at a ministerial-level panel discussion at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey.

Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Afghanistan’s Transport Minister Azizi participated in the panel.

Dr. Khalilur Rahman said that reviving SAARC is an important goal of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s foreign policy. He emphasized that there is huge potential for mutual cooperation among South Asian countries.

The panelists agreed that dialogue and diplomacy are the only effective ways to remove existing obstacles to regional cooperation. They believed that South Asia can become a strong and prosperous region through increased mutual trust and communication.
