Real farmers should be given benefits free from political influence, said State Minister for Textiles and Jute Ministry Md. Shariful Alam. He said that the agricultural benefits that the government is providing to farmers should be kept free from political influence. It should be ensured that only real farmers get this assistance.
The State Minister made these remarks as the chief guest at a program organized on Friday (April 3, 2026) at the Kuliarchar Upazila Parishad auditorium in Kishoreganj to inaugurate the program to distribute free paddy and jute seeds along with fertilizer to farmers. Jute seeds and fertilizer were distributed to about 1,800 farmers.
Stating that there is no fuel oil crisis in the country now, the State Minister said, we have adequate stocks of fuel oil. An artificial crisis is being created in the market due to unnecessary stockpiling. Even though the price of oil has increased in the global market, the government has not yet increased the price considering the common people to keep the economy running and the prices of goods within reach, and is providing subsidies.
In response to a question about the measles outbreak, the State Minister said that the government is already importing vaccines to prevent the spread of measles. A program has been taken to vaccinate children nationwide from next Sunday. It is hoped that the situation will be brought under control soon.
Agriculture Officer Farida Begum delivered a welcome speech at the program chaired by Upazila Executive Officer Yasin Khandaker.
It is worth noting that this assistance has been provided to a total of 3,700 farmers of the upazila under the incentive program to increase Aush paddy and jute cultivation in the current season. Out of these, 1,800 farmers have been given 5 kg of Aush paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer per person. In addition, 1,900 farmers have been given 1 kg of improved Tosha jute seeds.
