The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia celebrated Independence and National Day 2026 with due dignity on Thursday (March 26, 2026).
Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Md. Delwar Hossain inaugurated the program by hoisting the national flag to mark the day. Then, the Ambassador, along with the embassy officials and staff, laid a wreath at the temporary memorial of the embassy.
At the beginning of the discussion organized on this occasion, the messages of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh were read out on the occasion of Independence Day.
In his speech at the meeting, the Ambassador respectfully recalled the contributions of all the sons of the sun, the mothers and sisters who lost their honor and the fearless freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the independence and sovereignty of the country. He gratefully recalled the contribution of the Bangladeshi diaspora in highlighting the condition of Bangladesh to the world during the Great War of Independence and in shaping global public opinion in favor of Bangladesh.
The Ambassador called on the diaspora to play a responsible role from their respective positions, to brighten the image of Bangladesh abroad and to play a constructive role in the overall development of the country by embodying the indomitable spirit of the great independence.
In addition, he called on the Bangladeshi diaspora in Saudi Arabia to be vigilant and respectful of local laws and regulations in the ongoing war situation in the Middle East and to refrain from sharing sensitive information through social media.
At the end of the program, a special prayer was organized, wishing for the peace of the souls of all the martyrs of the Great War of Independence and the welfare of the country and the nation.
