Hon’ble Prime Minister’s message on the occasion of Genocide Day

Desk Report:

Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has issued the following message on the occasion of ‘Genocide Day’:

“March 25, 1971, is Genocide Day. On the occasion of ‘Genocide Day’, I pay my deepest respect to all the martyrs.

March 25, 1971, is a day of one of the most infamous and brutal genocides in the history of freedom-seeking Bangladesh. On that dark night, the Pakistani occupation forces carried out one of the most brutal genocides in history on the unarmed freedom-seeking people of Bangladesh under the name of ‘Operation Searchlight’. They indiscriminately shot and killed teachers, intellectuals and innocent people at various places including Dhaka University, Peelkhana, Rajarbagh Police Lines.

The March 25 genocide was a well-planned massacre. The visible role of the then political leadership in this matter is still a matter of historical research. Subject. However, on the night of March 25, the 8th East Bengal Regiment of Chittagong formally launched armed resistance against the genocide by saying ‘We Revolt’. The nine-month long armed liberation war began through the resistance to the genocide.

To convey the value and significance of independence to the present and future generations, it is also important to know about the Genocide Day of March 25. Let us all try to repay the sacrifice of the martyrs by establishing the spirit of the great liberation war in the state and society – equality, human dignity and social justice. Let us work together to build a just, developed, prosperous, self-reliant and democratic Bangladesh.

I pray to Almighty Allah to grant forgiveness to the departed souls of all the martyrs. I wish the success of all the programs organized on the occasion of ‘Genocide Day’ on March 25.
