Fuel price hike will not affect Eid pilgrimage: Commerce Minister

Desk Report:

Minister for Commerce, Industry, Textiles and Jute Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said that even if fuel prices increase in the world market due to the Iran-Israel war situation, it will not have any impact on the upcoming Eid pilgrimage in our country. In addition, there is no possibility of increasing the prices of daily necessities. However, if the war is prolonged, there may be some crisis in the world economy. We are in favor of peace. We hope that the war will end soon and peace will be established in the world.

He said these things in response to questions from journalists at an Iftar and Eid gift distribution program among working families of Ward No. 19 at the Rainagar Daptaripara Mosque Ground in Sylhet City on Saturday (March 14).

What will be the government’s steps if the war is prolonged? In response to a question, the minister said that this government is a government directly elected by the people. The government has made all possible preparations to keep the people’s safety and life normal. There is no reason for the common people to worry about this preparation of the government.

Earlier, in his speech as the chief guest at the Eid distribution ceremony, the minister said, “The promises I made to you before the election when I came to seek your votes will be implemented in stages. Various problems in this city will also be solved step by step. I seek everyone’s prayers and cooperation to fulfill the responsibility you have given me by voting for me 100 percent.”

Sylhet Metropolitan BNP Acting President Rezaul Hasan Kayes Lodi and General Secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury, program organizer Shafiqur Rahman Sumon and leaders from various levels of BNP were present at the event.

Later, the minister participated in an iftar and prayer mahfil organized by Bangladesh Sammilit Peshajibi Parishad, Sylhet Sunamganj Samity and Sylhet Metropolitan Police in Sylhet city.
