India keen to work closely with new Bangladesh government

Diplomatic Desk:

Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Prannoy Verma said that India is keen to work closely with the new government of Bangladesh and New Delhi wants to further expand and accelerate bilateral cooperation.

He told reporters after a courtesy call on Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday (March 3, 2026).

The High Commissioner said that India’s goal is to advance positive and constructive relations based on mutual interests and benefits.

He said that discussions were held on further strengthening the future-oriented partnership keeping in mind the historical relations between the two countries. Views were also exchanged on increasing people-to-people cooperation in various sectors including development, technology exchange, digital inclusion and strengthening the local government system.

The High Commissioner said that India supports a democratic, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh and is committed to continuing dialogue and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
