Prime Minister Tarique Rahman orders uninterrupted power supply during Sehri, Iftar and Tarawih in first cabinet meeting

The first meeting of the new cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. In the meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday (February 18, 2026) afternoon, the Prime Minister ordered to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Sehri, Iftar and Tarawih on the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan.

Although the meeting was mainly introductory, various government priority issues were discussed in detail. After the meeting, the Prime Minister’s advisors, ministers and state ministers briefed journalists.

State Minister for Labor and Employment and Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Md. Nurul Haque Nur said that the Prime Minister has given clear instructions to keep commodity prices normal, ensure uninterrupted power supply during Sehri-Iftar and Tarawih and maintain stable law and order situation in view of the upcoming Ramadan.

He said that there was also discussion on bringing about rapid visible progress in the implementation of the promises made by the Prime Minister during the election—family card, farmer card and health card. The Prime Minister emphasized on doing effective and visible work free from the influence of corruption. In addition, it was suggested to take necessary initiatives to expand the labor market in the Middle East.

State Minister for Finance and Planning Md. Jonayed Saki said that the government will soon announce a 180-day roadmap. The programs taken during this period will be implemented on a priority basis. Special importance has been given to ensuring a comfortable environment during Ramadan, maintaining normal power supply and controlling the law and order situation.

He also said that the proposal regarding the media commission is in the hands of the government and necessary steps will be taken in this regard.

Advisor to the Prime Minister Jahedur Rahman said that the Prime Minister has given necessary instructions to the concerned to control the prices of goods during Ramadan and ensure the smooth return of people to their homes on Eid.
