Bangladesh to become trillion dollar economy by 2034: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman

Dhaka, July 23, 2026: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the BNP-led government is working to transform Bangladesh into a trillion dollar economy by 2034. To achieve this goal, he called on domestic and foreign entrepreneurs and investors to make new investments and expand existing businesses in Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister made these remarks while addressing the ‘FICCI FDI Conference 2026′ organized by the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in the capital on Thursday (July 23, 2026).

The Prime Minister said, “Our government is determined to transform Bangladesh into a trillion dollar economy by 2034. We are working relentlessly to achieve this goal through sustainable economic growth by ensuring an investment-friendly environment.”

She said that the government’s current budget has provided specific incentives for several priority sectors. These sectors include renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, electronics, digital services, agro-processing, advanced textiles, healthcare and logistics.

The Prime Minister also said, “We are establishing Bangladesh as a major manufacturing hub in the world. At the same time, we are giving utmost importance to diversifying the ready-made garment industry and increasing modern technology and skills in human resource development.”

She said that the government is working to create an investment-friendly environment where domestic and foreign entrepreneurs can make long-term investments with confidence and be partners in Bangladesh’s economic progress.

About 600 distinguished representatives from home and abroad participated in this international conference. Senior government officials, policymakers, representatives of regulatory agencies, diplomats, development partners, executives of multinational organizations, investors, business leaders and media personnel were present at the event.

Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, State Minister for Land Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Advisor to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment and the Ministry of Labor and Employment Mahdi Amin, FICCI President and Managing Director (MD) of Berger Paints Bangladesh Rupali Haque Chowdhury, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Ashiq Chowdhury, along with local and foreign investors and representatives, were also present at the conference.
