After achieving an absolute majority in the 13th National Parliament election, Tarique Rahman has taken oath as the Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. At the same time, the members of the new cabinet formed by BNP also took oath.




The oath-taking ceremony was held at a formal ceremony organized at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the capital, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday (February 17, 2026). High-ranking state officials, leaders of various political parties, diplomats, representatives of civil society and invited guests were present at the ceremony.


The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) formed the government through an absolute victory in the election. The activities of the new government officially began with the oath-taking ceremony.
