Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Dhaka gives special message in ‘Special January, 2026 Edition’ of “Business in Bangladesh Newsletter” on the occasion of English New Year

It is with great pleasure that I extend my warm greetings and best wishes on the occasion of the New Year Special Edition of Business in Bangladesh, published in January 2026 for the benefit of the Bangladeshi business community and other interested readers.

I also convey my sincere good wishes to the people of Bangladesh, particularly its dynamic business community, the readers and well-wishers of this prestigious magazine, and the Sri Lankan business community actively engaged in commercial activities in Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh share long-standing and friendly bilateral relations, marked by close cooperation across many sectors, especially trade, investment, and tourism. These ties continue to grow, supported by strong people-to-people links and expanding business engagement between our two countries.

Sri Lanka has today emerged as an attractive, affordable, and welcoming travel destination for Bangladeshi visitors, including both leisure and corporate travelers. We warmly invite more Bangladeshi tourists to experience Sri Lanka’s natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and renowned hospitality.

Sri Lanka also offers promising opportunities for foreign investors in key sectors such as apparel and textiles, power generation, information technology, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and construction. At the same time, Bangladesh presents significant potential for Sri Lankan enterprises in areas including textiles and apparel, power and energy, tourism, IT, finance and banking, and logistics, creating strong prospects for mutually beneficial partnerships.

In this context, I warmly invite Bangladeshi buyers, investors, and business leaders to participate in Sri Lanka Expo 2026, premier international trade exhibition, to be held from 18 to 21 June 2026 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo. Organized by the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, the Expo will bring together international buyers, investors, trade delegations, chambers of commerce, policymakers, and industry leaders.

The Expo aims to showcase Sri Lanka’s diverse range of export products and services, with a strong focus on fostering trade partnerships and promoting investment opportunities featuring an investor forum, industry-specific sessions, structured business-to-business (B2B) meetings, and dynamic networking opportunities, while highlighting Sri Lanka’s competitive service offerings and its position as a key trade and investment hub in South Asia.Registered international participants will also benefit from attractive incentives, including complimentary accommodation packages and discounted airfares offered by SriLankan Airlines.

I extend my best wishes for the continued success of Business in Bangladesh and commend its valuable contribution to promoting business awareness and regional economic cooperation.
