BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is going to Sylhet tonight (January 21, 2026) to start election campaign activities ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. He is scheduled to leave for Sylhet by plane from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:15 pm.
This information was given by the committee’s spokesperson Mahdi Amin at a press conference organized at the office of the BNP Central Election Steering Committee in Gulshan in the capital this afternoon. He said that BNP’s national election campaign is going to officially start with Tarique Rahman’s visit to Sylhet.
At the press conference, Mahdi Amin said that the BNP Chairman will visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) late at night after reaching Sylhet at 8:15 pm. He will participate in a large election rally at the Sylhet Alia Madrasa ground tomorrow morning.
Tarique Rahman will then address a rally held at Sherpur Ainpur playground in Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila in the afternoon. On the way, he will participate in a rally held at the proposed new Upazila Parishad ground in Shayestaganj Upazila of Habiganj district.
From there, he will join the rally at Kuttapara Football Stadium in Sarail Upazila of Brahmanbaria district. The BNP chairman is scheduled to address an election rally held at Bhairab Stadium in Kishoreganj district in the afternoon. After that, he will hold an election rally in the area adjacent to Narsingdi Municipal Park on the way.
Later, Tarique Rahman will return to his Gulshan residence late at night after holding a rally in Araihazar or Rupganj Gausia area of Narayanganj district.
Meanwhile, the BNP has taken the initiative to unveil an election theme song at the beginning of the election campaign. Mahdi Amin said that the theme song will be officially inaugurated at Lakeshore Hotel in the capital at 12:01 am today.
The theme song will be inaugurated by BNP Central Election Steering Committee Member Secretary and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. The event will be attended by Election Steering Committee Chief Coordinator Ismail Zabiullah, members of the Central Election Steering Committee and top BNP leaders.
