Nordic Day celebrated in Dhaka with values of democracy and sustainable development

Diplomatic Desk:

The embassies of five Nordic countries in Dhaka—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden—jointly celebrated ‘Nordic Day 2026’. This year’s theme was—“Inclusive Societies, Stronger Together.”

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, was present as the chief guest at the event.

Nordic Day commemorates the Helsinki Accords signed in 1962, which laid the foundation for formal Nordic cooperation. The day celebrates the values that guide Nordic engagement around the world—democracy, sustainable development, gender equality, minority rights, inclusive societies, multilateral cooperation, and respect for international law.

The event highlighted the strength of Nordic cooperation and the ongoing Bangladesh-Nordic partnership in achieving inclusive development and shared global goals.

The celebration featured traditional Nordic food and music, and created an open and friendly atmosphere for dialogue, cultural exchange and communication among guests.

The event was successfully organized with the support of Danish companies—Arla, ACI Co-Ro, Bestseller, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Copenhagen Offshore Partners, DSV Air and Sea, KAFCO, Maersk and Novo Nordisk.
