“Educational and cultural cooperation is a strong foundation of Russia-Bangladesh relations” – Alexandra Khlevnoy, Director, Russian House Dhaka

Russian Ambassador Alexander Khozhin highlighted the achievements of Russia-Bangladesh relations in 2025 at a year-end press conference on Monday (December 22, 2025). He particularly highlighted the growing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of culture, education and science.

At the press conference, Alexandra Khlevnoy, Director of the Russian House Dhaka, presented the successful projects of the Russian House in 2025. She thanked the Russian Embassy and Bangladeshi media partners and gave a brief overview of the humanitarian, cultural and educational activities held in 2025. She noted that the Russian House works in close coordination with the Embassy and serves as an important platform for building relations between culture, education, science and people.

She said, “The mandate of the Russian House Dhaka is to promote dialogue between the people and societies of our two countries. “The cooperation that is developed through education, culture, science and public relations directly contributes to the long-term relations and human resource development of the two countries.”

Humanitarian cooperation has grown steadily and positively in 2025. Particular attention has been paid to cultural diplomacy activities. The Russian House continues to hold classical concerts, academic exchanges and large public gatherings at various times of the year. In May, musicians from the Moscow Conservatory conducted concerts and master classes in Dhaka. On May 10, a cultural evening of Russian folklore dancers was held to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in World War II. On August 22, a gala concert in the Rabindra Sarovar area to celebrate the Russian National Flag Day was attended by about 8,000 spectators. And on December 5, an open-air concert to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Russian diplomacy and the victory of Bangladesh was attended by 13,000 spectators.

Education is a strategic priority of the Russian House. Khlevnoy said that the Russian government has allocated 200 government scholarships for Bangladeshi students next year, compared to only 65 five years ago. This initiative demonstrates Russia’s investment in human resources and confidence in the joint future of the two countries. He noted Bangladeshi students are very talented and will be trained as highly qualified professionals in government, digital technology, climate, engineering, education and medical sciences.

The Russian House provides various opportunities in the fields of education, academic and research cooperation, language and cultural exchange. More than 6,000 Bangladeshis are already studying at Russian universities and contributing to various sectors of the country. Technology transfer and training activities through Rosatom’s nuclear projects are also part of this cooperation.

Education is at the center of the 2026 plan. The expansion of Russian language programs, university cooperation and student exchanges will be further strengthened. In addition, film screenings, exhibitions and discussions on international issues will continue.

As part of the press conference, the official introduction of the international documentary film festival “RT.DOC: Time of Our Heroes” was also given, organized by Dmitry Khrustalev, the producer of the RT Doc documentary channel.
