On the occasion of Great Victory Day, Greater Chittagong Association, UK organized a discussion, award ceremony for children and youth and a cultural program at Chittagong Center on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 5 pm.
The discussion program was presided over by Barrister Abul Mansur Shahjahan, Convener of the Executive Committee of the Association, and the entire program was jointly hosted by Convening Community members Masudur Rahman, Mohammad Kaiser, Nurunnabi and Asma Alam. Fosi Uddin recited the Quran at the beginning.
The meeting was addressed by the organization’s Founding President and Trustee Chairman Barrister Monowar Hossain, former President Ishaq Chowdhury, former General Secretary Councilor Firoz Gani, Trustees Arshad Malik, Monir Mahmud, Md. Ali Reza, former Secretary Mohammad Kaiser, former Treasurer Md. Masudur Rahman, Sheikh Nezam Uddin, Convening Committee Members Md. Ibrahim Jahan, Mohammad Fosi Uddin, Advocate Gazi Mozappar Hasan Chowdhury, Doctor Miftahul Jannat, Mira Badua, Selina Akhter, Roche Ancha, etc. Among others, Mrs. Jannatul Ferdous, Mrs. Sabina Yasmin, Abdul Khalek, Abdur Rahman, Abu Taleb, Engineer Russell and many others were present.
The speakers at the discussion said that the great Victory Day is a very significant and important day in our national life. After a long nine-month bloody war, the greatest achievement of Bengalis was achieved on this day in 1971. The speakers prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs on the battlefield of 1971 and said that the country became independent to establish the rights of the people.
Our new generation must come forward to uphold the values of independence and realize the dreams of millions of martyrs. The program commemorated the outstanding contribution of the brave freedom fighters in snatching victory in the liberation struggle of Bengalis and paid deep tribute to all the martyrs for independence and sought prayers.
At the beginning of the program, Barrister Abul Mansur Shahjahan inaugurated it by performing the national anthem. In the second part, after the discussion, prizes were distributed through a painting competition and a competition on self-composed poetry recitation. Finally, the event concluded with the GCA convener thanking everyone present.
