Bangladesh Air Force Sends Humanitarian Aid to Disaster-Hit Sri Lanka

Bangladesh has dispatched emergency humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka following the severe flooding and landslides triggered by Cyclone Ditwa, which caused widespread devastation across the country. Acting on the directive of the Hon’ble Chief Adviser of the Interim Government and under the coordination of the Armed Forces Division, the Bangladesh Air Force sent a C-130J transport aircraft carrying relief supplies on Monday (3 December 2025).

The aircraft departed Bangladesh Air Force Base Bir Uttam AK Khandakar at 08:48 AM with approximately 10 tons of relief materials on board. The consignment included tents, dry food, mosquito nets, torches, gumboots, vests, hand gloves, rescue helmets, and a large quantity of essential medicines intended to support the affected people of Sri Lanka.

Air Commodore Mohammad Sahidul Islam, GUP, BUP, AFWC, ACSC, psc, of the Bangladesh Air Force, is leading the mission as the Mission Commander.

The C-130J successfully landed at 13:23 hours at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo, where the humanitarian aid is being handed over to Sri Lankan authorities. Upon completion of the mission, the aircraft is scheduled to return to Bangladesh later today.
