Army’s magisterial powers to remain till February 28: Election Commission Secretary

The Election Commission (EC) has taken a special plan to control the law and order situation in view of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. Even after the elections, the judicial or magisterial powers of the army will remain in force till February 28, 2026. However, the Home Ministry will take the final decision on whether the army will be present directly at the polling stations on the election day.

This information was given by EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Dr. Mohammad Akhtar Ahmed after a final preparatory meeting with the law and order forces at the Election Building in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Thursday (November 27).
