Collaboration meeting between BKMEA and Shojag Coalition

A collaboration meeting between BKMEA and Shojag Coalition held at BKMEA Dhaka office on Wednesday (16 October, 2024). The program is chaired by BKMEA president Mr. Mohammad Hatem and the senior vice president Mr. Mansoor Ahmed was also present at the event.

Shojag is a coalition consisting of BLAST, Naripokkho and Christian Aid formed in 2017 to end the gender based violence at workplace in the country.

BKMEA president appreciated such initiative of Shojag. He said the scenario in garment sector has been changed from the past days. The workers are very much aware about their rights now a days and the owners are willing to establish the all the law at their factories. BKMEA is working on this issue science 2006 by the formation of compliance cell in BKMEA. He urged to the team from Shojag to aware the worker about the responsibilities besides the right as well.

Senior vice president Mr. Mansoor Ahmed described the present scenario of RMG sector and urged the team to highlight some more issues related to the sector. BKMEA is eager to cooperate this initiative he added.

Anjum Nahed Chowdhury, program manager, Cristian Aid describe about Shojag by a power point presentation and Rowshon Ara, project director, Shojag coalition share best practices of this project.

Nuzhat Jabin, country direcrtor, Christian Aid; Maheen Sultan, Team leader, Shojag coalition; Farzana Sharmin, Joint secretary, compliance cell, BKMEA and high officials of this organization was present at the program.
