Interim government calls on countrymen to remain calm over verdict

The interim government has termed the death sentence announced against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal for crimes against humanity as a ‘historic verdict’. The government has called on people from all walks of life to remain calm, restrained and responsible to keep the situation stable after the verdict.

The government said that emotions may naturally arise in the public mind regarding this verdict, especially among the families and relatives of the martyrs of the July uprising. However, a special warning has been given in this regard that no one should get involved in any kind of disorder, violence, provocative behavior or illegal activities due to that emotion.

The government has clearly stated that any attempt to disrupt public order in the post-verdict period will be strictly suppressed. Law enforcement agencies are on the highest alert to maintain overall peace and order in the country.

The interim government has called on everyone to obey the law and said that no anarchy or chaos will be tolerated due to the court ruling.
