Embassy of Türkiye in Dhaka Celebrates 102nd Republic Day with Enthusiasm

The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Dhaka celebrated the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic with great enthusiasm and festivity. The National Day Reception, held at the Sheraton Hotel Dhaka on Wednesday (October 29, 2025) evening, brought together dignitaries, diplomats, business leaders, and representatives from various sectors to commemorate the historic milestone.

The event was graced by Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Energy Advisor to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. Ambassador Ramis Şen of Türkiye and his spouse Juhal Şen hosted the reception, which was attended by ambassadors, senior officials, and members of the Turkish and Bangladeshi business communities.

The celebration marked not only the Republic’s founding anniversary but also the Centennial of the Turkish Republic, honoring Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the nation’s founding father, and the enduring spirit of independence and progress that shaped modern Türkiye.

In his remarks, Ambassador Ramis Şen paid tribute to Atatürk and the heroes of Türkiye’s independence, saying,

“We express our respect and gratitude to the founder of our Republic and to all those who sacrificed their lives for our nation’s freedom. The Republic of Türkiye and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh share strong and deep-rooted relations. We are working closely to further enhance cooperation between our two countries.”

He highlighted a series of high-level bilateral visits in 2025, including official meetings between foreign ministry and defense officials of both nations, emphasizing growing cooperation in trade, defense, and investment.

Ambassador Şen also acknowledged the contributions of Turkish companies operating in Bangladesh, noting their active role in investment and trade promotion. He expressed appreciation for the direct flights between Dhaka and Istanbul, calling them “a vital link” in strengthening people-to-people and business connections.

Special thanks were extended to Mr. Sarati Kasiman, the outgoing Honorary Consul General of Türkiye, for his 41 years of service in promoting bilateral relations.

The Ambassador concluded by reading a message from the President of Türkiye, which reflected pride in the nation’s achievements over the past century and reaffirmed its commitment to global peace, justice, and progress.

Chief Guest Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan congratulated the people and government of Türkiye on behalf of Bangladesh, highlighting the depth of cultural and economic ties between the two nations.

“From the grandeur of the Ottoman era to the bold reforms of modern times, Türkiye’s journey continues to inspire nations across the world, including Bangladesh,” he said.

He noted the growing trade volume of USD 1.3 billion in 2024, calling it a strong foundation for future collaboration. The Advisor praised the Bangladesh–Türkiye Joint Administrative Mechanism, renewed recently to boost trade and investment cooperation, and emphasized the importance of collaboration in energy, technology, health, and infrastructure.

He also expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s humanitarian assistance, especially through TİKA’s healthcare support for Rohingya children in Bangladesh, and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to working jointly for the safe and dignified repatriation of the Rohingya refugees.

“As we celebrate this enduring bond, we look forward to building a future of shared aspirations and collective progress,” he added.

The evening concluded with a cultural segment and a dinner reception, celebrating the enduring friendship between Bangladesh and Türkiye — two nations united by mutual respect, shared history, and a vision for a prosperous future.
