Language movement activist Ahmed Rafiq passes away

Language movement activist Ahmed Rafiq breathed his last on Thursday (October 2, 2025) at 10:12 pm due to age-related complications while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of BIRDEM Hospital in the capital.

He was 96 years old at the time of his death. Ahmed Rafiq received numerous awards including the Ekushey Padak, Bangla Academy Award, and Rabindra Sahitya Puraskar for his outstanding contribution to literature and culture.
