The European Union (EU) is investing heavily in green energy, environmentally friendly transport and clean drinking water in Bangladesh. The EU Delegation to Bangladesh recently held its third meeting this year with officials from the European Investment Bank (EIB). The meeting discussed the progress of the ongoing investment of around €1 billion and plans to double it.

At the same time, the second meeting of the Working Review Group held under the Bangladesh Renewable Energy Facility was attended by representatives from the Power Department, Team Europe and government utilities. The meeting saw progress in identifying specific projects for investment in the solar and wind power sectors under an EU-guaranteed EIB loan of €350 million and an EU grant of €45 million.
