Political will and international cooperation are essential to protect the ozone layer, said Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources.
She made this comment at a discussion meeting jointly organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangladesh and the Department of Environment (DOE) on the occasion of World Ozone Day.
Speakers at the meeting said that it is important to strengthen environmental protection through implementation of international commitments and coordinated activities to protect the ozone layer. This requires joint efforts of policymakers, industry, media and the general public.
UNDP Bangladesh said that they have been conducting various programs to protect the ozone layer for a long time in collaboration with the Department of Environment and related government agencies.
