The story of the progress of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University on its 24th anniversary

Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SBU) is celebrating its 24th anniversary on September 11. On this occasion, the entire campus has been illuminated and various programs have been organized.

Under the leadership of the current Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif, the university has recently added new dimensions to education, research and human resource development. The university’s contribution to food security, agriculture-based technology innovation and sustainable development is gradually expanding.

In the last one year, the university has made several significant progress. These include presenting the real history of the university to the students, preparing for the celebration of University Day, restructuring the fragile administration, and organizing the “Vijay 24 Feast” in the halls in collaboration with the student-administration (except Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall). The results of the 79th batch have been published quickly, giving students the opportunity to apply for the BCS exam, making TSC easily available in cultural activities, introducing free WiFi in classrooms, introducing mid-term exams and canceling quizzes in the final exams have reflected long-standing demands.

In addition, fairness has been ensured through quota reforms in the admission test. New fellowships have been introduced to encourage students in research and higher education, a portion of which is worth 18 lakh taka. After many days, the colorful celebration of Pahela Boishakh and Nabanna festivals and the declaration of the campus as drug-free have set an example of positive change in the management of the university.

These initiatives are establishing Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University as an important center for agricultural education and research in the country.
