It is possible to build a green and sustainable Bangladesh through joint efforts: Environment Advisor

It is possible to build a green and sustainable Bangladesh through joint efforts, said Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources.

She said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the ‘Dwijen Sharma Poribesh Padak-2024’ ceremony organized by BRAC Bank and Tarupallab at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy on Saturday (August 30, 2025) evening.

The advisor said that the struggle to protect the environment is not limited to policies or programs, it is a responsibility for future generations. For this, civil society, government and the private sector must work together.

He said that the continuous contribution of the people has always played an important role in preserving the country’s nature and environment and will continue to do so in the future. The advisor cited examples of various government initiatives including restoration of the Sal forest, conservation of the elephant corridor, and Zero Soil, and said, ‘Dhaka is much greener today than before. Rooftop gardens can now be seen on the roof of almost every house. People love nature—this spiritual bond will never be broken.’

The special guests at the event were Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Nurun Nahar, BRAC Bank Vice Chairman Faruk Moinuddin Ahmed, Managing Director and CEO (Current Charge) Tarek Refat Ullah Khan and Tarupallab Vice President Shahjahan Mridha Benu. Tarupallab General Secretary Mokarram Hossain presided over the event.
