30th Dhaka International Trade Fair 2026 inaugurated in Purbachal

Opening the door to new possibilities in the country’s trade and export sectors, the 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair was inaugurated today at the permanent venue of Purbachal, Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Rupganj, Narayanganj.

In his speech at the inaugural ceremony, Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin said that the 30th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair is an important milestone in the history of the country’s trade and commerce. He said, “This fair is not just an exhibition of products; it is a reflection of Bangladesh’s new initiatives, innovations and commercial progress.”

He also said that Bangladesh is currently an important partner in global trade. The main objective of the International Trade Fair is to achieve sustainable economic growth by developing and diversifying export products, entering new international markets, strengthening economic diplomacy and attracting foreign investment.

It was informed at the event that the government declares a product as the ‘Product of the Year’ every year in view of the diversification and potential of export products. In continuation of this, ‘Paper and Packaging Products’ was declared as the ‘Product of the Year’ for 2026.

The use of polythene bags and single-use plastic has been completely banned in this year’s fair to protect the environment. As an alternative, eco-friendly shopping bags will be provided by the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

According to the layout plan of the fair, 324 pavilions, stalls and restaurants of various categories including domestic and foreign organizations have been allocated.

Vice Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau Mohammad Hasan Arif delivered the welcome speech at the event. Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Mahbubur Rahman and Administrator of FBCCI Md. Abdur Rahim Khan spoke as special guests.

It is worth noting that the inauguration of the fair was held on January 3 instead of January 1 due to the national mourning declared for the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
