M Zahir Uddin Swapan, a member of parliament elected for the third time from Barisal-1 constituency with the BNP nomination and the paddy sheaf symbol, has been sworn in as the Minister of Information and Broadcasting.
He took the oath at a formal ceremony organized at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the capital, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday (February 17, 2026). High-ranking state officials, leaders of various political parties, diplomats, representatives of civil society and invited guests were present at the ceremony.
