Youth is the main driving force in building a merit-based Bangladesh: State Minister for Youth and Sports

Desk Report:

State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque said that the government is adopting a multi-faceted action plan with the utmost importance given to the youth in order to build a Bangladesh of the future. Youth is the main driving force in building a merit-based Bangladesh.

The State Minister said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized with the officers and employees of the Department of Youth Development in Dhaka on Sunday (March 1, 2026).

In his speech, the State Minister recalled the historical background of the Youth Ministry and said that the path of this ministry began in 1978 under the leadership of martyred President Ziaur Rahman. He involved the youth in the mainstream by introducing awards like the State Award and Ekushey Padak for youth development. Later, the visionary plan that national leader Begum Khaleda Zia took to create employment and prevent social degradation is still an inspiration for us today.

Highlighting the goals of the current government, the State Minister said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is determined to build a merit-based education system. Necessary instructions have already been given to the concerned ministries to accelerate the education system and bring the light of education to every home. To ensure employment of the youth, loan facilities and technical training are being strengthened through the Department of Youth Development. He said that considering the current global market demand, the government is giving special importance to third language education. New programs will be taken with special emphasis on Japanese language education.

Speaking as a special guest at the event, Youth and Sports Secretary Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam urged the officers of the department to work with honesty and integrity so that these goals of the government can be successfully reached at the grassroots level.
