Bangladesh-Maldives meeting held to strengthen Bangladesh-Maldives tourism cooperation

Diplomatic Desk:

Maldives High Commissioner Shiuneen Rasheed called on Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam at the ministry on Monday (Monday (27 April 2026). State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat was present at the meeting.

The meeting emphasized on further strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Maldives. Detailed discussions were held on the experience and cooperation of the Maldives in developing the country’s tourism sector, especially the Cox’s Bazar and Kuakata beaches.

Both sides expressed interest in signing a memorandum of understanding to strengthen mutual cooperation in the tourism sector. It was hoped that this initiative would be helpful in exchanging knowledge and skills, developing tourism infrastructure and undertaking joint initiatives between the two countries.

The ambassador expressed his determination to work closely with Bangladesh and assured of continuing maximum cooperation with the current government.
