US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen called on Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam at the Minister’s office at the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 31, 2026).
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of further strengthening the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States. Various aspects of increasing mutual cooperation in the fields of information technology, digital connectivity, cybersecurity and telecommunications were discussed.
The Minister said that the current government is working towards building a digital Bangladesh and US cooperation is very important in this regard. He emphasized increasing investment in the information technology sector and exchanging knowledge and technology.
The Ambassador praised the progress of the information technology sector in Bangladesh and assured to continue further cooperation in this sector in the future.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed hope to work together on various issues of mutual interest.
Secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications Abdun Nasser Khan, Economic Officer of the US Embassy Joe Boskey, and Political Economic Counselor Eric Gillan were present during the meeting.
