Diplomatic Desk:
Md. Ismail Zabiullah, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Public Administration and a member of the BNP’s National Standing Committee, has emphasized the importance of enhancing mutual communication, trust, and cooperation to further deepen and make the existing friendly and strategic relationship between Bangladesh and China more people-oriented. He stated that the upcoming visit to China by the delegation from the Prime Minister’s Office would not only strengthen ties between the two nations but also create new opportunities for future collaboration.
He made these remarks on Thursday (October 8, 2026) at a pre-departure reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy for the delegation from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Adviser noted that this marks the second delegation from the Prime Minister’s Office to visit China. He urged the delegation not to limit the visit to formal meetings alone but to strive to understand China’s development experience through interactions with government officials, entrepreneurs, academics, and the general public.
“You are representatives of a nation of 180 million people,” he said. “One should not view China solely through formal meetings; it is essential to familiarize yourselves with their culture, institutions, and people. Understanding how China achieved such massive economic and social transformation is crucial.”
He further highlighted that Bangladesh has much to learn from China regarding long-term planning, infrastructure development, industrialization, the use of technology, innovation, and the successful implementation of plans. Given that China currently accounts for approximately one-third of global manufacturing, the country’s development experience offers valuable lessons for Bangladesh.
Md. Ismail Zabiullah recalled that the friendly relations between Bangladesh and China began during the tenure of the late President Ziaur Rahman. Over time, this relationship has expanded and deepened, eventually evolving into a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
He added that Bangladesh is currently at a critical juncture of economic and administrative transformation. The country stands to benefit from China’s experience in diversifying the economy, boosting productivity, establishing technology-driven industries, and creating employment opportunities for the youth. Emphasizing the need to facilitate people-to-people contact between the two nations, he highlighted the importance of introducing an e-visa system for Bangladeshi citizens, providing arbitration support for entrepreneurs, and enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and human resource development.
He stated that Bangladesh, under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman, is keen to further advance its existing relationship with China. He expressed hope that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries would yield greater benefits for the people in the future.
The event, organized by the Chinese Embassy, was attended by the Chinese Ambassador, senior embassy officials, members of the delegation from the Prime Minister’s Office, and other relevant officials.
