UNHCR High Commissioner Meets Bangladesh Foreign Adviser

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi met with the Hon’ble Adviser for Foreign Affairs Md. Touhid Hossain at his office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (27 February, 2025) morning.

Hon’ble Foreign Adviser thanked the High Commissioner for his visit to Bangladesh and appreciated the continued support extended by the UN to the Rohingya sheltered in Bangladesh.

He highlighted the important role of the UNHCR and the International Community in bringing a durable solution to the Rohingya crisis. Adviser Hossain shared concern that failing to bring a lasting solution to this crisis will further destabilize the peace and security of the region and that of the whole world.

Filippo Grandi assured of his commitment on the issue and hoped that the international community will renew its focus to resolve the crisis. He expressed optimism that the UN Conference, proposed by Hon’ble Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will generate enough momentum for meaningful efforts from all.

UNHCR High Commissioner will also visit the Coxsbazar Rohingya camps tomorrow.
