Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Bangladesh, H.E. Listyowati, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh, H.E. Ms. Afroza Khanam Rita, accompanied by the State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, H.E. M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, in Dhaka.
The meeting discussed opportunities to strengthen Indonesia–Bangladesh cooperation in civil aviation and tourism, including tourism development, enhanced air connectivity, human resource development and stronger people-to-people contact.
The meeting also discussed possible joint activities in the fields of tourism and culture as both countries move towards the commemoration of the 55th anniversary of Indonesia–Bangladesh diplomatic relations in 2027.
The Ambassador conveyed Indonesia’s openness to developing more concrete cooperation in tourism, including through tourism promotion, destination development, exchange of experiences and cooperation among relevant institutions. Both sides also discussed opportunities for capacity building and human resource development in the tourism sector.
In the civil aviation sector, both sides discussed potential cooperation in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), including technical support, training and capacity building. They also explored opportunities to enhance air connectivity between the two countries, including the potential development of direct flights.
Visa-related matters were also discussed, particularly ways to facilitate people-to-people mobility for business visits and tourism. The Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka continues to facilitate visa services for Bangladeshi nationals under the current Indonesian policy framework. Going forward, the mechanism for utilising the e-visa system is expected to be further improved to provide greater convenience for Bangladeshi nationals travelling to Indonesia.
The meeting with the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh was part of a series of courtesy calls conducted by the Ambassador of Indonesia in Dhaka with senior officials of the Government of Bangladesh since she assumed her duties in January 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity to further strengthen communication and explore bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of civil aviation and tourism.
