BNP has decided to nominate Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the party’s secretary general and standing committee member, as the party’s party candidate for the 23rd presidential election of Bangladesh. After receiving the party’s nomination for the presidential election, he resigned from the posts of BNP Secretary General and standing committee member.
An emergency meeting of the party’s top and senior leaders held at the Secretariat on Thursday (August 13) morning under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman decided to nominate Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as BNP’s candidate for the presidential election.
After the meeting, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi confirmed the matter to journalists.
He said that Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has resigned from the party’s secretary general and standing committee member after receiving the nomination for the presidential election.
Earlier, an emergency meeting was held at the Secretariat at around 9 am under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman. The meeting was attended by top BNP leaders as well as senior party leaders.
The name of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was finalized as the BNP candidate for the upcoming presidential election in the meeting. According to the party decision, his nomination process for the presidential election will now be completed.
