UK and Bangladesh Launch New Trade Negotiation Pool to Support LDC Graduation

The British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cooke, joined the Honourable Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin and Special Envoy on International Affairs Lutfey Siddiqi on Sunday (7 September, 2025) to officially launch the Bangladesh Trade Negotiation Pool.

This new initiative, supported by the United Kingdom, aims to train specialist Bangladeshi negotiators to secure vital trade agreements as the country prepares for graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status.

Speaking at the launch event, the British High Commissioner highlighted the programme as “a great example of the UK’s modern economic partnership with Bangladesh,” reflecting the shared commitment to strengthen bilateral trade ties and support Bangladesh’s transition to a more competitive global economy.
