Bangladesh is organizing the largest science and technology-based summit BEAR Conference and Bangladesh National Semiconductor Symposium 2025 for the first time. The event is being organized with the support of the World Bank on July 16 and 17 at the National Science and Technology Complex in Agargaon, Dhaka. The event is being jointly organized by the Information and Communication Technology Division, EDGE Project, and Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC).
A press conference was held in this regard at the ICT Division meeting room on Tuesday (July 15, 2025). ICT Division Secretary Sheesh Haider Chowdhury addressed the press conference as the chief guest.

The secretary said that this is the first such event in the history of Bangladesh with the collaboration of the government-semiconductor industry-academia and expatriate talents. The ICT Division, i.e. the current government, is ready to provide all kinds of policy support. We have already prepared a draft of the National Semiconductor Policy and will soon finalize it and present it to everyone.
The country’s major political parties (BNP, Jamaat-e-Islam and NCP) have been included in this event. They will participate as discussants in various technical sessions.
We have taken initiatives to cooperate with those associated with the semiconductor industry in various ways. We have proposed to provide 5-10% cash incentives for exporters of semiconductor-based products and services to the high-level policy makers of the government, he added.
With just 20,000 skilled manpower, Bangladesh will be able to earn $150 billion in exports from the semiconductor industry in the next 10 years, says Shish Haider Chowdhury.
Professor Md. Mostafa Hossain of Padru University, convener of the BEAR Summit and Bangladesh National Semiconductor Symposium 2025, said,
This kind of event on the anniversary of the July Revolution really gives us a new dream. The BEAR Summit and National Semiconductor Symposium 2025 organized under the theme ‘Bangladesh as a Nation of Innovation’ has brought us a great opportunity. We will get the opportunity to showcase our talent, skills and innovative power in front of the whole world. The aim of this conference is to rediscover the potential of the important sectors of biotechnology, electronics, artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics (BEAR); ensure the active participation of young talents; build strong partnerships between industry and academia and thereby move the country towards a knowledge-based economy.
This time, a symposium will be held alongside the BEAR conference, which will pave the way for Bangladesh to enter the trillion-dollar global semiconductor industry and introduce the country as a global hub for Deep Technology, he also commented.
Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council Dr. Md. Mehedi Hasan, Vice President of Global Founders Mahbub Rashed and officials of the ministry department were present at the press conference.
