Turkey interested in investing in Bangladesh

Diplomatic Desk:

Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen met with Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir.

The meeting was held at the Commerce Minister’s office at the Secretariat on Wednesday (April 15, 2026). The meeting discussed various aspects of expanding bilateral trade, increasing investment and strengthening economic cooperation.

The minister said that there is an opportunity to further expand trade and investment by utilizing the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Turkey. He emphasized on taking joint ventures, especially in the ready-made garments, textiles, agro-based industries and light engineering sectors.

The minister also said that both countries will benefit if Turkish investors are interested in leather and jute products. Because the production cost in Bangladesh is comparatively low, Turkish entrepreneurs will quickly benefit if they invest and operate production activities here.

Turkish Ambassador Ramis Sen praised the investment potential in Bangladesh, saying that Bangladesh’s economy is growing rapidly and there is skilled human resources here, which is attractive to Turkish investors. He praised Bangladesh’s environmentally friendly jute products, saying that jute products are in high demand in Turkey.

At the same time, he sincerely congratulated Khandaker Abdul Muktadir on winning the national parliamentary elections and assuming the responsibility of Commerce Minister.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Abdur Rahim Khan and other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
