Three Chinese Navy ships—’Tang Shan’, ‘Da Qing’, and ‘Tai Hu’—have arrived at Chattogram Port for a five-day goodwill visit.
Upon the ships’ arrival at Chattogram Port on Thursday (September 17, 2026), the Chief Staff Officer to the Commander, Chattogram Naval Area, welcomed the officers and sailors. A well-attired Bangladesh Navy band performed in keeping with traditional customs.
High-ranking officials from the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, Chinese nationals, and senior local Bangladesh Navy officials were present to welcome the Chinese naval vessels. Earlier, as the ships entered Bangladeshi waters, the Bangladesh Navy ship ‘BNS Umar Farooq’ had received them.
During the visit, a delegation comprising the commanding officers of the Chinese naval ships and the Chinese Military Attaché to Bangladesh will pay courtesy calls on the Commander, Chattogram Naval Area; the Commander, BN Fleet; and the Chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority.
Additionally, the officers and sailors of the visiting ships will tour various Bangladesh Navy vessels and bases, as well as visit notable sightseeing spots and historical sites in Chattogram. Simultaneously, members of the Bangladesh Navy will have the opportunity to visit the Chinese naval ships.
This visit will enable personnel from both navies to gain direct insight into each other’s operations and professional standards, while also facilitating the exchange of experiences and views. It is expected to play a role in expanding future training and areas of mutual cooperation.
This goodwill visit will strengthen professional ties and the exchange of ideas between the officers and sailors of the Bangladesh and Chinese navies, while also creating opportunities to further bolster bilateral relations between the two countries.
Upon completion of the visit, the three Chinese naval ships will depart from Bangladeshi waters on September 21, 2026.
