Diplomatic Desk:
Pawan Kumar Tulsidas Badhe, the Deputy High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, has called for the expansion of bilateral trade and investment, the removal of tariff and non-tariff barriers, and the further strengthening of commercial connectivity between the two nations.
He highlighted these issues during a courtesy meeting with Md. Fazlul Hoque, the Administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), at the latter’s Gulshan office on Sunday (September 20, 2026).

During the meeting, the Deputy High Commissioner emphasized the need to form a B2B (business-to-business) task force to expand investment and trade between the two countries. He stated that his office is maintaining regular communication and discussions with both governments to accelerate the process of establishing this task force. He sought the cooperation of Bangladesh’s private sector, under the leadership of the FBCCI, in this regard.
The Indian Deputy High Commissioner noted that visa procedures for Bangladeshis traveling to India have currently been simplified across all categories. He added that the Indian High Commission is issuing approximately 5,000 visas daily.
The FBCCI Administrator remarked that the formation of a joint task force could play a fruitful role in boosting bilateral trade and enhancing mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and India. Md. Fazlul Hoque urged businesspeople and entrepreneurs from both countries to work collaboratively to advance investment and trade in emerging and high-potential sectors.
