‘Women’s Bus Service’ launched for safe travel of women

Desk Report:

A special ‘Women’s Bus Service’ has been launched in Dhaka, Chittagong and Bogra to ensure safe and comfortable travel for women. Road Transport Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam inaugurated the service at the Dhaka Truck Depot premises of BRTC in Tejgaon in the capital on Tuesday (August 18) at around 12 noon.

This special bus service will be operated by women drivers and conductors. Bus services will start from Tuesday afternoon, subject to availability of passengers. Passenger services will be fully operational on the specified routes from tomorrow, Wednesday.

Initially, this service has been launched with 10 buses on various important routes in the capital Dhaka. In addition, two buses will run in Bogra and two in Chittagong. In total, a total of 14 buses in the three cities will be covered under this special service.
