Home Affairs and Agriculture Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) has said that there is no militancy in Bangladesh at present.
The advisor made this statement while briefing reporters after visiting the export cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital and the cold storage of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation located there on Sunday (July 6, 2025) morning.

The advisor said that it has been possible to eradicate militancy with the cooperation of everyone. In this regard, everyone concerned, including the media and law enforcement agencies, has an important role. Raising questions from reporters, the advisor said, have you been able to provide any information on militancy in the last 10 months? You provided it when it was there. Now it is not there, so you cannot provide it. There is no militancy in Bangladesh at present.
On the issue of Bangladeshis being tagged as militants in Malaysia, the advisor said that none of the three people who were sent to the country are militants. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a press release in this regard. Basically, three people were sent back because their visas expired. He said, the five people the Malaysian police chief talked about did not come to the country. We are trying to contact them at the government level. We will investigate. However, they have no involvement in Bangladesh.
Regarding the inspection of the export cargo village, the Home and Agriculture Advisor said, vegetables, fruits, etc. are exported from here on the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture. The purpose of the inspection of the cargo village is to see the export process. He said, as you know, a few days ago, due to the agitation of NBR officials and employees, we had some problems in exporting fruits and vegetables. At that time, many of our traders faced some losses. The Advisor said that since the export volume of our country has increased a lot, plans are being made to further expand the cold storage here.
Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said, the big good news for us is that our new export terminal is being built – if any goods/products cannot go on the plane even after scanning, these goods can be immediately kept in cold storage. The advisor said, currently if the plane is overloaded, then there is no cold storage to keep the goods that need to be kept. But this opportunity will be available in the new terminal. He said, we do not want to be limited to just one or two products. We are thinking about how to export different types of products.
