The Ambassador of Argentina in Dhaka gave a special message in the ‘Special January, 2026 Edition’ of the “Business in Bangladesh Newsletter” on the occasion of the English New Year

I thank the editors of Business in Bangladesh for inviting me to address their distinguished readers.

As we leave 2025 behind, I would like to note that itwas a decidedly positive year for relations between Argentina and Bangladesh.

Our bilateral ties continued to strengthen and broaden across multiple areas. The constructive relationship between our governments was increasingly demonstrated through effective bilateral collaboration and coordinated engagement in international fora.

Trade expanded steadily, approaching the one-billion-dollar threshold. Argentine exports increased, while at the same time several Argentine textile importers established new commercial partnerships with Bangladeshi suppliers. Progress was also made in agricultural technical cooperation, and in the cultural sphere, there were several sports and cultural exchanges, including the translation of anumber of works by or about Argentine authorsinto Bangla here by Bangladeshi publishing houses.

Reflecting the growing momentum of this relationship, the Government of Bangladesh announced its decision to reopen its embassy in Buenos Aires.

Domestically, despite numerous challenges, the interim government successfully guided a process that will culminate in national elections scheduled for February of this year.

We therefore enter 2026 with high expectations. Soon the people of Bangladesh will have the opportunity to elect their government, opening a new chapter in the country’s institutional life. It is hoped that a new government firmly committed to democratic principles will guarantee the benefits of freedom to all Bangladeshi men and women.

With respect to our bilateral relations, I remain confident that they will continue to strengthen under the newly elected government.

Finally, as 2026 is a Football World Cup year, I eagerly look forward to witnessing the extraordinary passion and support shown by Bangladeshi fans for our national football team.
