Teachers must fulfill their moral and professional responsibilities properly despite limitations and challenges: Education Minister

Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that teachers are the nation’s ‘Chiropractic Doctors’, who develop the country’s future generations. If education is the backbone of the nation, then the responsibility of keeping that backbone straight lies with teachers. Teachers must fulfill their moral and professional responsibilities properly despite various limitations and challenges.

Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration of the training program titled ‘Induction Training for Non-Cadre Teachers of Newly Nationalized Government Colleges’ organized at the National Academy of Education Management (NAEM) in the capital on Sunday (March 29, 2026).

The Education Minister also said that the call to build the future Bangladesh is not the sole agenda of any individual or government; Rather, it is a national commitment. The role of teachers is important in achieving this goal. He told the teachers that they should be raised by considering students as their children.

Referring to various structural limitations of the education system, the Minister said that the long process of SSC and HSC examinations – especially when educational institutions complete the classes and examinations of the candidates by December 31, the education boards conduct these two public examinations in April and June of the following year instead of December of that year. Due to this, the valuable time of the students is being wasted, which is causing great loss at the national level. He stressed the need for effective reforms in this regard.

The Minister instructed the teachers participating in the training to submit their recommendations in writing after the training, so that the training program can be further improved in the future. It is possible to build an effective and timely education system based on the opinions and experiences of the teachers.

Referring to the education sector as a ‘house of worship’, the Minister said that every good result created through educational programs is included in Sadaqah-e-Zaria, which benefits the teacher in the long run. The Minister urged the teachers to fulfill their responsibilities with this vision.

The Education Minister emphasized the collective and constructive role of teachers in the overall development of the country and said that we must leave the limitations of the past behind and move forward. He urged everyone to work unitedly to build a developed Bangladesh of the future.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Education, Director (Secondary) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Professor Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, Director General of NAEM Dr. Wasim Md. Mejbahul Haque and teachers of newly nationalized colleges from different parts of the country were present at the event.
